3.6 Million Little Giant Ladders Recalled After Reports of Serious Injuries
Little Giant has announced a major recall of approximately 3.6 million ladders sold nationwide at Lowe’s, Costco, Amazon and other retailers due to a potential fall hazard.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the ladders can suddenly retract if their Rapid Lock mechanisms are not fully engaged.
The company has received 25 reports of ladders retracting, including 19 injuries. Three involved head injuries, including a traumatic brain injury, a skull fracture and a concussion. The other injuries included fractures, cuts and bruising. Little Giant also received 39 reports of Rapid Locks not working properly.
Which Little Giant ladders are recalled?
The recall includes the following models equipped with Rapid Locks:
- Adjustable Fortress 2.0
- Conquest 2.0
- Dark Horse 2.0
- Epic
- King Kombo XT
- Leveler
- MegaLite
- MegaLite+
- Multi
- Quantum
- Vector
Important: Only ladders without an orange rectangular “QC” sticker on the rail above a Rapid Lock are included in the recall.
The Rapid Locks are black or orange and sit on each ladder leg. The brand and model name are printed on the side of the ladder.
The affected ladders were sold from December 2015 through October 2026, with prices ranging from approximately $100 to $1,000.
What should you do if you own one?
If you have one of the recalled Little Giant ladders, stop using it until you’ve reviewed the company’s recall instructions.
Little Giant is offering a free repair kit with warning labels to put on the ladder and instructions for checking and maintaining the Rapid Locks. That includes making sure the locks are fully engaged before every use and keeping them lubricated.
If a lock still doesn’t work properly after following the instructions, contact Little Giant for an evaluation. If it still fails, you can choose a replacement ladder of the same or an equivalent model, or a refund. Refunds range from a depreciated value based on the purchase date up to the full purchase price for ladders bought within the past 12 months.
